This teaches children not to rely on their parents or other adults to help them solve an issue, children have to start tackling their own problems at a young age so when they grow up and become adults themselves they can take care of much more serious issues without looking to their elders for help.

The Metamorphosis is about a traveling salesman named Gregor Samsa, Gregor would not be working as a salesman if his family did not depend on his financial income and stability. One morning Gregor wakes up and finds that he has somehow been transformed into a man sized insect. This drastic change is very hard to get used to, so as he is living his strange life as a man sized insect, which even his family is terrified of, he sees his family without him and his job as a salesman go down the path of poverty and financial instability. As he watches this happen to his loved ones, his loved ones realize that if he does not leave on his own then his family will be ruined, Gregor slowly realizes this too, so he goes into his bedroom and he decides that it is for the better of his family that he dies, which he does. After his family finds out they feel a great relief, with many months of conservative living they have some money saved up, which they invest in a new home.

This book shows how selfless someone can be just to save his family the trouble of having to deal with him. Greg shows that he cares about his family more than his own life, knowing that everyday he is alive he is causing pain to his family must be very agonizing. He was a very caring family-man, who worked a job that he did not like to just support his family, and when he could no longer work and he realized that the best the he could do was to die for his family then that is what he did. Gregor made sure his family did not suffer because of him. Gregor in my opinion is very similar to a brave soldier, while the soldier knows that he is probably not going to make it home from the front line he still fights, but for what, to keep his family and his country safe from danger and in this case Gregor was the danger to his family and he eventually killed this danger for his family, so they could live a happy life.

MOTHER

Language Russian
Publication date 1906
This story is about a mother whose son, Pavel, is a socialist who has some socialist friends. Pavel and his friends always gather at his house and have arguments and debates, but no one really got mad at anyone, they were just friendly debates. At first Pavel's mother was not sure about Pavel's friends, but she warmed up to them. Pavel and his friend print leaflets and hand them out to workers, telling them about socialism and how miserable their current lifestyle really was. After some time the police dropped in unexpectedly and arrested two of Pavel's friends and several others. But one day the workers were informed about a pay cut, so Pavel decided to give a speech to the workers protesting the pay cut, unfortunately Pavel is also arrested. Pavel's mother learns of her son's arrest, she decides to get involved in her son's activities, she secretly hands out revolutionary literature disguised as a factory worker. After her son is released he decides to carry the banner at the crucial May Day, Pavel is arrested. Pavel's mother continues to distribute revolutionary literature while Pavel waits for a court trial. At the trial Pavel gives a brave speech about the importance of the workers, Pavel is exiled to Siberia. Pavel's mother is very proud of her son for his speech, and she continues on to print many copies of his speech to distribute, but when she was about to set of for her journey she is caught by the gendarmes and choked and beaten, during this she heroically says, "Not even an ocean of blood can drown the truth." This story shows true bravery and brotherhood, these young thinkers gathered and fought for what they believe without fearing the consequences. This book shows true friendship and these thinkers and Pavel's mother stuck together through thick and thin to bring equality to their country. Even at the face of danger and death these people did not stop fighting to bring other families fairness, the book brings a whole new definition to the term "selfless act". It is incredible what people did to stop the unfair treatment of the working class. This book shows that a the people of the same country must look out for each other no matter how bad the government is treating them, if the country's people are united than no one and no government can break them apart. The people are the country the government can never silence the people, in the end the government must either give in to the united people's requests or be overtaken.
If I had to chose one of these books to read for myself it would defiantly be Mother, to me it is simply amazing what a widowed mother can really with the help of some people who think the same way as her, it is also amazing how a young adult such as Pavel can publicly make these revolutionary speeches and stand up for what is right in his mind, to bring his people justice and equality.
