Biographical Report and Assessment
Adolf Hitler
Born: 20 April 1889
Died: 30 April 1945
Birthplace: Braunau am Inn, Austria-Hungary
Hitler had 6 siblings, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Hitler's father was very strict and he often beat his oldest son Alois Jr. when he was around the age of 13, but when Alois Jr. became 14 he had enough of this treatment, so he decided to run away, leaving Adolf next in line for the same type of treatment. Around the same time Hitler's family moved to a Lambach, this ended Hitler's responsibilities of having to take care of chores on the farm leaving him with more free time, he used this free time to play with his new friends from the new school he was attending. At age nine, Hitler was caught smoking a cigarette, but he was not punished, this is the time where Hitler's mischievous behavior began. Hitler during these times, was a very stubborn leader of his social circle. Once again Hitler's family moved, this time to the village of Leonding, close to Linz. This is where Hitler's obsession with all things related to the military and war began. One day Hitler looked through his father's book collection, he found many books relating to the military and other documents relating to war, such as a picture book of the War of 1870-1871 between the Germans and the French. Hitler said that he read this book over and over, which further influenced him toward the obsession with all things related to military. This lead him to join the German army where he earned the Iron Cross, the highest German military award, which was very hard to achieve, especially for a foreigner, such as Hitler himself. After the military Hitler join the German Worker's Party, which influenced him greatly. In this party Hitler rose in ranks, and gave speeches which intrigued many people, and soon he had the public on his side, which allowed him to become a Dictator.

Born: December 18, 1879
Died: March 5, 1953
BIrthplace: Gori, Georgia
Stalin's father a hard working man trying to support his wife and Stalin, their child. But he was also an alcoholic, he often beat his son and wife. Stalin's mother wanted him to become a priest, because she recognized his intelligence, while his father wanted him to become a cobbler like himself. Stalin's dad took him to the capital of Georgia, Tiflis, where Stalin would become an apprentice for his dad learning how to become a cobbler, his mother retrieved him and enrolled him into a Orthodox Church school so he could receive a good education and become a priest. This action made Stalin's father very displeased, leading him to refuse to support his wife and child, effectively ending their marriage. Stalin did well in school, so he went on to go to a secondary school where he was introduced to the ideas of Marx and Lenin. Afterwards Stalin dropped out of school, for reasons unknown, but instead in 1901 he joined the Social Democratic Party. Later on in 1912 Lenin appointed Stalin to serve on the first Central Committee of the Bolshevik Party. In November 1917, the Bolsheviks Took control of Russia. The Soviet Union was founded in 1922, with Lenin as its first leader; during these years, Stalin had continued to move in ranks.

When one analyzes these two dictator's childhoods, there are similarities, for example both dictators had abusive fathers who beat them, they were both raised in poor families, they both dropped out of school. Furthermore, I believe that it is not a coincidence that both of these dictators were heavily influenced by some sort of party which they join, and even more so, that they rose in ranks in these parties gathering support which allowed them to become dictators. This is a very simple and obvious pattern, these two dictators had very similar childhoods, it is no surprise that they became what we know them for today.
