Today I researched for an hour, I have started to research about other revolutions that the american revolution could have influenced. Today I found out that the Italian Revolution was also influenced by the American Revolution. The Italian Revolution, like the American Revolution, wanted to achieve freedom from foreign powers, the Italian Revolution also believed in unalienable rights, and that all men are equal just like the American Revolution.
Today I researched for about 45 minutes, did not have much time to research because I came home late from a soccer game, but I found a website which talks about how the Enlightenment influenced the American Revolution, thus influencing other revolutions. Some of the idea that influenced the revolution were freedom from oppression and natural or unalienable rights. Enlightenment thinkers such as John Locke came up with these ideas, which really forged America's Revolution, which later on influenced many other revolutions.
Today I spent an hour researching I found a website which compares the French and American Revolutions, it lists similarities and differences. Some of the similarities were that both revolutions started because of taxation, no representation(for French peasants and colonists in British colonies) and both of the revolutions' goals were to create a Republic which would represent everyone.
Today I spent about an hour and a half researching. I found a document which talked about how the American Revolution inspired Haiti's Revolution. The document said that during the American Revolution the idea of "unalienable rights" was proclaimed, which meant that everyone was born with the right to remain free and to be equal, but for some reason this did not apply to the slaves in Haiti, a French colony. After the slaves heard about this idea and the success of the American Revolution they decided it was time to stand up and claim their rights, after all they were men.
Today I researched for about an hour. I found a website which talks about which countries were influenced by the American Revolution and how. On the website it stated that," Many of the theories used by America in their struggle for freedom were the same theories that were being used in the French enlightenment at the time." This quote solidifies that the American Revolution defiantly had a lot of influence on the French Revolution. Both the French and the American Revolutions were borne from dire economic conditions. Furthermore, both of these revolutions were fought to achieve a new government and to gain independence from a monarch. Even the fact that America succeeded in its revolution influences the French people and proves to them that it is possible to rise up against the king and be successful in your efforts.
Today I spent an hour and a half researching, I found a website which talks about the six key ideas of the American Revolution which were: deism, liberalism, republicanism, conservatism, toleration and scientific progress the website went into detail about how each of these ideas were implemented into the revolution.
Today I spent about an hour and a half researching I found a couple PDFs and some other websites which had some useful information such as: the success of the American Revolution inspired French soldiers who fought with the Americans to go back home an tell their families and others that America won, which fueled the growth of the uprising in France. In one of the PDFs it stated that Thomas Jefferson commented that ,"The American Revolution appeared to have awakened the thinking part of the nation from the sleep despotism in which they were sunk."
I spent about an hour researching today I found a very useful website which talks about the causes of the American Revolution, it talked about: how the British levied taxes, there were documents such as the Sugar Act of 1764, the Stamp Act of 1765 and The Intolerable Acts. This shows what kind of conditions colonists were living in and why they would rise up against the British, their living conditions were similar to the French.
Today I spent about an hour and thirty minutes researching, most of the time I was finding websites which did not have useful information but I did find a website which listed the causes of the French Revolution which were the development of a middle class without political power, a large gap in wealth between rich and poor, an irresponsible aristocracy, a legacy of the reign of Louis XIV, depression in the 1789, shortages of food, soaring food prices, unemployment and over-population in Paris. The financial crisis at the top was another reason due to the refusal of a privileged aristocracy to shoulder a share of the financial burden.
Today I spent an hour and a half researching about how the American Revolution inspired the Haiti's Revolution from April 21 1791 to the first of January 1804, I have found a website which talks about how every single revolution inspires another. The American Revolution is said to be caused because of taxation, while that is true the colonies would not go against Britain just because of taxes. It is said on the website that colonists were growing a sense of national pride. They did not want a different country to control them. The colonists were fighting for a new government which would have equal opportunities for everyone and was based on what the people wanted, Haiti's revolution was similar. Colored people were tired of having others control them, they wanted freedom and when they saw that the American Revolution was a success they knew it was possible for them to gain freedom too.
